"Bystanders... for better or worse?"

Being a bystander has its benefits and consequences. In school teachers talk about not being the bystander for various reasons.

Benefits include anything that relates to not getting fully-involved: you don't get hurt directly, and you can do what you want with that fact. Sometimes staying out of a situation is better for (any) party(ies).

Getting involved can be quite dangerous, but it depends: is it safe? Does it actually require assistance?
